Brown Rice, Dates and Peppered Bacon

Ingredients:

| 1 c | California premium medium grain, brown rice, uncooked |
| 2 1/4 c | water |
| 1/2 c | dried dates, chopped |
| 3 sli | peppered bacon, cooked and crumbled |
| 1/4 c | chives, chopped |
| 1 T | maple syrup |
Directions:
1| Combine rice and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a soft boil.
2| Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 50 minutes or until liquid is adsorbed.
3| Remove from heat. Let stand covered for 10 minutes before serving. Let rice cool slightly.
4| Immediately stir in the remaining ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot or cold.
