Environment

California rice is home to hundreds of wildlife species.

It's the only crop that replicates the once-abundant wetlands. Ducks, geese and shorebirds by the millions rest and feed in California ricelands during the annual migrations.

Most recently, it was determined that 230 species of wildlife are sustained by California rice growers.

Along with supporting area wildlife, the rice industry is equally committed to maintaining and improving the quality of the air and water resources we all share. Recognized as pioneers in implementing innovative programs to reduce air pollution and enhance water quality, the California rice industry is a leader in environmental stewardship.
